Tuesday 16 July: Watch This Space

Monkey Mia morning

Most of the campers, ourselves included, were up for the 7.45am Dolphin Experience.

Monkey Mia is world-renowned for close encounters with wild Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins. Up to five female dolphins from two families are offered small amounts of fish up to three times during the morning. Dolphins are only fed under strict supervision of Parks and Wildlife Service officers. The small feed amounts ensure the dolphins continue to behave and hunt naturally and teach their young hunting and social skills. However, today we could see that the dolphins had a better offer and had decided to feed off a large school of fish 500 meters distant!

Spot the sea-turtle’s head

We had a very refreshing swim and Gayle believes she has photographed the only red-capped dolphin in existence.

A lazy post-swim afternoon

The dolphins arrived late afternoon

The end of a great day

    1. Yes he came out for a treat, but wasn’t thrilled with his swimming lesson

    2. Hi Marama
I can see you miss Chops . Great idea to bring him into the conversation.

  2. It looks sublime and blissful in dolphin land. Your setup looks great near the sandy beach too. Living the dream eh!

  3. Hey Chops . How is the sniffing your going? Is the sand yielding much sniffing satisfaction?
